I hired Laura Roach, of Habitat Roche, to design and decorate my new makeup store on Post Oak Boulevard, Houston, Texas. I had my first store for 15 years and loved it, but wanted something spectacular and completely different. Somehow, she got inside my mind, and figured out how to interpret “Palm Springs mid 60’s on the way to Vegas” while keeping it modern and entirely unique! It was not an easy job as we built from scratch, starting from slab. The finished result is breathtaking and won a design award! It was such a glorious collaboration, that I used her services to remodel/design every single space in an outdated house I bought not long after that…completely different style and vibe, but again, just exquisite, and so comfortable!! Her attention to detail is so appreciated. It is a lost art. My next project is to find and redo the perfect Beach House in the near future! Five stars to Laura and Habitat Roche!!!

We first reached out to Laura on a recommendation from our Builder for our new home. We had already engaged an architect and had a good floor plan, but really needed someone to help us pull it all together during the initial planning phase. If you have attempted a large remodel or built a new home, you know how overwhelming it can be, especially when you are going with an entirely new design style. Laura listened to our ideas, thoroughly reviewed our plans and helped us fill in the blanks. She was a part of interior decisions and exterior decisions. As it turned out, our plans had much room for interpretation and some big gaps. Laura developed drawings to help us visualize these important details. My project started with a plain vanilla 1950’s house. It had old work charm, but was bland. Habitat Roche assisted with paint. window coverings, lighting, and furniture selection. Laura took the house from plan to stunningly gorgeous. She helped me realize my dream of combining old with new-old world charm with modern, comfortable furnishings combined with striking, bold patterns. It was the perfect balance of serene and elegant.
I love working with Laura because she is patient, listens and understands that I need time to make decisions. Most importantly she has impeccable taste and resourcing. She also referred me to the very best contractors and installers. I knew my home was perfectly appointed, because it felt like ME and felt like HOME.
I am working with Laura on our second home project. It is on a more modest budget and yet she is helping me achieve the same lovely results. We are even reusing some items. It’s coming together wonderfully. She is not afraid to go funky and bold, yet makes the most traditional designs come together in a unique way. Five stars is not enough!
